Did you know that Sweden once was a great power? During the 1700 ad Sweden expanded and conquered parts of Scandinavia. But they were all lost during 1800 ad when peace was made between the other nations. However before the peace, Gustav II Adolf modernized the Swedish army which helped during Thirty Year’s War. Although Gustav II Adolf was killed in action, the war was considered a success. Other countries supported Sweden because they wanted a single country to dominate the Baltic Sea. But during the siege of Köpenhamn, Netherlands helped Denmark since they did not want Sweden to become too powerful. Sweden had made many enemies when conquering and Russia helped in stopping Sweden during the Great Northern War. When king Karl XII died on the field, the army dissolved and peace was quickly with the nations Sweden has been fighting.
